One thing that probably all of us can say, is that we have experienced fear before. Fear is something that all of us have in common. Maybe not fearing the same object, but the same fear existing within the mind. We can even say that our fears unite us, our fears bring us together. Unless we suffer from Enochlophobia ;)
What we want to say is that fear is nothing new. We as humans, and even animals, we have been experiencing fear for as long as we can remember. It is also so easy to awaken fear within our minds when the mind is not clear and stable.
We turn on the television or the radio, and we hear of viruses, of storms, of wars, and bombs. The same when we open social media sites, newspapers. Even when we go out for a walk, we hear people on the streets talking about what is happening in the world. So many opportunities to resonate with fear, but also an equal amount of opportunities to liberate ourselves from all kinds of fear!
When we check up on all of this, we can see that there is always a common factor, regardless of the level of fear we have. When we observe, we see the same pattern.. the fear of losing my job, my house, my reputation, my loved one, my life.
There is always this idea of 'me' or 'I' linked to all our fears. Therefore, it is so clear to see that actually this 'I' or this 'me' is the root of all our fears! And, as we have said many times before, this idea of this 'me' or 'I' - this is all an illusion. Now, if the 'I' or the 'me' is an illusion, then it must mean that our fears are illusions too!
See, our minds are constantly hovering over this idea we have of ourselves, and when we pay attention to this idea, then all that it is associated with this idea gets highlighted too. The fears, the worries, and the insecurities of the ego, all of this goes together with the ego.
So, how do we deal with this?
We think so much about ourselves, or this idea about ourselves, but we hardly invest time into thinking of God. We are so caught up in this little world of 'me me me' that we forget about God's kindness, grace, and love. We completely put that aside and focus only on our own little self.
So, what we can do, is whenever fear arises, or even without fear, we can shift our attention to God. Now when we say God, we are not merely saying that we need to focus our attention on the idea of God, no. We want to shift our focus to the presence of God.
How do we do that? See, the love of God is always present in our hearts, it is never separate from us. God's loving presence never separates from us, we are never alone.
But don't just believe this, don't merely believe this because some person writing an article says so. Quiet the mind, go inwards and experience God's loving presence. When we investigate, we shall find that this warm, glowing, loving presence of God is always with us, and we can feel the warmth and love radiating in our hearts. Not our physical hearts, but our spiritual hearts, the space on our chest. We can connect to this, it is real, not some illusion.
When we shift our focus to the loving presence of God, we shall realize that the fears start to move to the background. The longer we stay present in this warm, radiating love, the more our consciousness gets absorbed into this, and our fears start to completely dissolve in the background.
The radiating, glowing love of God shines through our whole being, and it completely illuminates us, causing all the shadows of the fears to disappear immediately!
We say 'shadows' of fears, because that is all that they are, shadows. They were never real.
The heart becomes brave and courageous, and it is prepared to take on anything and everything. We become free and fearless. Even fearless of the idea we have of death. It all dissolves!
We can always connect to this space within us, this warm, glowing love that is nothing separate from who we are. It takes some time to dissolves our fears, because they are connected with our egos, and we have been feeding our egos for longer than we can remember. However, as we go inwards, deeper and deeper, letting go of the 'I' and its fears, we become one with the love of God.
Always there, always present, never apart from us. It is our sacred birthright.

Getting to the root of fear
Fears within the mind exist on very gross levels, but they also exist on extremely subtle levels of the mind. Gross fears would be for example the fear of a spider, the fear of the dark, the fear of snakes. Then, our fears get more subtle, the fear of losing our job, our money, or our reputation. Even more deeper it goes, the fear of losing a loved one, and eventually the fear of being harmed and losing our lives. When we check up on all of this, we can see that there is always a common factor, regardless of the level of fear we have. When we observe, we see the same pattern.. the fear of losing my job, my house, my reputation, my loved one, my life.

So, how do we deal with this?
From mind to heart
What if we shift our focus a bit, away from this 'I' or 'me'...We think so much about ourselves, or this idea about ourselves, but we hardly invest time into thinking of God. We are so caught up in this little world of 'me me me' that we forget about God's kindness, grace, and love. We completely put that aside and focus only on our own little self.

A heart filled with courage
As we get to know that we are never anything separate from God, that not for one single moment, ever, have we been without the loving presence of God, we transform our insecurities and fears into courage. The heart becomes brave and courageous, and it is prepared to take on anything and everything. We become free and fearless. Even fearless of the idea we have of death. It all dissolves!

Always there, always present, never apart from us. It is our sacred birthright.
