Life as a movie

In this article, we are going to read about this Movie of Life - rated All Ages, of course.

Using the analogy of a movie on a screen, we can apply the same understanding to the way we experience life, and to know who we are. This analogy is not the author's own idea, but it is still worth sharing and writing about.

The analogy is easy to understand on an intellectual level. When we really check up, we shall realize that this is also our actual experience. We are probably just not aware of it.

We are going to imagine a screen, and the activity of the screen.
Let's explore!

Always the same

All of us know what a television screen looks like and how it works. On the screen, there are many movies playing, each with its own plot. There are movies about action, drama, comedy, romance, and horror. So, how does this influence the screen itself?

There may be gunshots fired in the movie, but the screen itself remains full and whole, isn't it? There may be heartbreaking romances, but the screen itself remains perfect and stable. The same goes for when a bomb explodes or a volcano erupts in the movie. The screen itself does not move or change at all!

Additionally, each movie has a main character. The main character can be Asian, African, a male or female, a Christian, a Buddhist, a terrorist, an artist - it can be absolutely anything and everything! The main characters have their own backgrounds and characteristics, their own stories. Even so, the screen itself remains untouched by their stories.

Even when the main character is considered 'kind' or 'evil', this has absolutely no impact on the screen. The screen does not discriminate against what is playing on it, does it?

I Am-ness

When one movie is finished, another movie can play on the same screen. The screen does not cling to the previous movie and characters. Alternatively, the screen can be switched off. With or without a movie on the screen, the screen itself still remains the same, right?

Now, let's consider ourSelf. The "I am-ness" we know ourselves to be. Consciousness.
In this analogy, we, as Consciousness, are the same as the screen.

We remain the same. Even when we experience the physical body of a toddler, of a teenager, or that of an old person. Even when we experience a variety of emotions and thoughts, we remain the same. The
"I am-ness" is always the same, even in a dream.

The screen remains untouched by whatever plays on it. In fact, what plays on it, is only the activity of the screen, because there is only the screen and nothing else. There is no separate actor, plot, guns, cars. It is all just the screen. The screen is the only reality.

In the same way, we are untouched by whatever we experience. Whatever we experience, is only made up of ourSelf. Experience, as well as what is experienced, is only the activity of ourSelf, our True Nature. The Essence is always the same.

The world and experience, is 'not two'.
